The Carbide Teeth hold up much longer (up to 500 hrs vs. 40-100 hrs for chipper teeth), especially in rocky conditions, but do not cut as efficiently and cannot be sharpened. Since rocks are more likely to come in contact with the outside edges of the drum, we recommend purchasing this carbide teeth kit for the outside 4 rows of the drum (16 teeth), and leaving the more efficient chipper teeth in the center, directly in front of the operator. This configuration allows for selective use of the chipper teeth (use the center of the drum to mulch a larger tree).
